At the start of the series between the Houston Astros and the Colorado Rockies, at Coors Field, Venezuelan player José Altuve reached a whopping 2,400 lifetime hits in the Major Leagues (MLB).

In his first at-bat, the Astroboy hit a double all over center field, and minutes later he stepped on the plate to score the first run of the match, driven by a similar blow from his former teammate and friend, Carlos Correa.

With these 2,400 hits, Altuve was only 70 short of reaching the record set by Bob Abreu, who ranks fourth in history among those born in Venezuela. In addition, the second baseman reached 458 doubles to consolidate himself in the historic third place among his compatriots.

With 1,247 scored, he is already the fifth Venezuelan with the most runs in the history of the Grand Tent. As long as it maintains this pace, the 3,000 hits club , a figure that would take him straight to Cooperstown, seems to be an inevitable destination for the little giant of Maracay.
