The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development of Grenada, Joseph Andall, denounced the threat to which Latin American and Caribbean countries are being subjected, “disguised as a war on drugs”.

During his participation in the 25th Virtual Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), he asserted that warships in the Caribbean Sea and, a little less in the South Pacific, are “a brutal intervention” disguised as a war on drugs.

“Any responsible government is against drug production and trafficking. We know the devastating effects that narcotics have on the population, especially among young people,” he added.

On the other hand, Andall called for taking the necessary measures to ensure not only the survival of ALBA, but also its growth and strengthening. “We must prevent artificial ideological divisions from disconnecting and affecting the solidarity of Latin America and the Caribbean,” he said.

He also urged ALBA countries to forge new alliances, especially with Africa and Asia. “We have to use our ingenuity to partner with Africa, in such a way that a new frontier can be opened in order to bridge the gap and bring us ever closer to the African continent and thus open up better opportunities for economic and social development and for political solidarity on both sides of the Atlantic,” he said.

“The only hope we have to come out stronger is to unite. Long live Alba!” , former prisoner.
