Llamas consume Argentinian Patagonia

The forest fires that have raged in southern Argentine Patagonia since the end of last December are continuing their advance and have already destroyed some 28,100 hectares, forcing new evacuations in the last few hours.
Several outbreaks affect localities and two national parks in the provinces of Chubut, Rio Negro and Neuquén. In the Nahuel Huapi National Park, located between Neuquén and Rio Negro, the fire, which originated at the end of last December, has already consumed 9,592 hectares in the Los Manzanos sector and 683 hectares in the El Manso sector, according to the latest official report cited by international media.
Meanwhile, in the Lanín National Park, in Neuquén, the fire in the Magdalena Valley, which began in early January, has already affected some 7,000 hectares and is still active despite the work of about 300 people, including brigade members and volunteers.Some 230 people continue to work in the two affected sectors of the southern area of the protected area.
