The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, expressed his opposition to the new immigration law approved in Texas, United States (USA) this Wednesday.
“We are against this draconian law. It is completely the opposite, contrary to human rights (Human Rights). A dehumanized, anti-Christian, unjust law, violating precepts, of norms of human coexistence, not only of international law, but of the Bible,” said the president during his customary morning press conference.
He stressed that the legislation, also known as SB4, is inadmissible in judicial matters, since such measures can only be applied at the federal level, not at the local level. “If they intend to deport, we will not accept the deportations of the Government of Texas and we are not going to stand idly by,” he said.
However, he assured that greater analysis and judicial remedies are still needed to determine the steps to be taken by his Administration.
On March 19, the Supreme Court of the United States enacted a Texas law with which the local police can arrest those who cross without documents from Mexico to U.S. territory and then deport or imprison them.
