This Friday, June 20, the head of the Crime Prevention Directorate (DPD), Lusmialit Perdomo, assured that the Bolivarian Government has been doing hard work to provide the necessary care to young people who are in vulnerable situations.

“The young man who is there at the traffic light is not a criminal, but he is a young man who needs a helping hand and the Bolivarian Government has been constantly providing that helping hand and has been deepening its attention to those young people,” he said during his participation in the program Sin Truco Ni Maña.

He also reported that many of the young people who work at these traffic lights or cleaning glass on the streets are victims of adults who capture them to exploit them. “That is why we have been receiving complaints and, as a result of this work, there was a person arrested by the CICPC, who was dedicated to exploiting these young people,” he said, referring to a recent case.

He emphasized that there is currently a group of 30 young people who are being served by a special program implemented by the Directorate of Crime Prevention and headed by the Ministry for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace. “This first group, which is 30 young people, is not such a big problem, but it is a focus that we must ensure that they reconnect with their life project, but that they also have the conditions to carry out that life project,” he said.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Bolivarian Government to care for these young people in situations of vulnerability. “They are young people who need us to hug them, to support them and to provide them with an opportunity,” he said.
