The Minister of Industries and National Production, Alex Saab, reported that the state company Maderas del Orinoco continues to strengthen the country's forestry industry with significant progress in exports and reforestation.

Thanks to the dredging carried out by the CVG in the Orinoco River, the company has been able to expand its operations, allowing the export of wood chips for use in construction to China and the Middle East.

In addition to ensuring the supply of wood in the domestic market, Maderas del Orinoco has developed an ambitious reforestation program. “To date, 18,000 hectares of pine have been planted, and currently there are 5 million seedlings in their nurseries that will be transferred to La Sabana in June to plant 5,000 new hectares, reaffirming the commitment to sustainability and environmental recovery,” said Saab.

Similarly, in a program promoted by the Ministry of Mines, 8,800 hectares of acacia will be planted to reduce the environmental impact of mining.

The efforts of the company's workers have been key to these achievements; meeting domestic demand and initiating exports.

“With these actions, the Bolivarian Government, through the Ministry of Industries and Timber of the Orinoco, is advancing its mission to promote production, reforestation and economic growth in the country, always framed in the legacy of social justice and sustainable development promoted by President Nicolás Maduro,” said Minister Alex Saab.
