Magnitude 5.0 earthquake shakes eastern Japan

This Wednesday, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported that a magnitude 5.0 earthquake occurred in Ibaraki prefecture, east of Tokyo, the Japanese capital.

The Meteorological Agency explained that the natural phenomenon occurred 60 kilometers deep, at 20:40 local time, where the epicenter was located at 36.5 degrees north latitude and 140.6 degrees east longitude.


According to the website of the Xinhua news agency, the tremors were felt in the center of Tokyo.

 

So far, it has no tsunami warning and it is not confirmed if it has caused material damage or human loss.
