Magnitude 5.8 earthquake shook Afghanistan and was felt in Pakistan

This Saturday, a magnitude 5.8 earthquake shook eastern Afghanistan, according to information provided by the National Center for Seismology of India.

The epicenter of the earthquake occurred in a mountainous area in the south of the province of Badakhshan, less than 20 kilometers from the border with Pakistan.

In Pakistan, the earthquake was felt in the town of Islamabad and in areas of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, bordering Afghanistan.

In this regard, the director of the Department of Disaster Management of the province of Badakhshan, Mohammad Kamgar stated that “so far no casualties or material losses have been reported as a result of this earthquake in the districts or the provincial center. If new information is received, it will be shared.”
