On May 19, 1925, in the city of Omaha, Nebraska, the revolutionary and civil rights fighter, Malcolm X, was born, an African-American leader who, with a fiery verb and great determination, fought against imperial supremacy that wanted to silence him with death.
Born with the name of Malcolm Little, this rebel decided to adopt “X” as his surname, to symbolically denounce the suppression of historical memory imposed by the colonists on people of African descent who were uprooted from their land to be subjected to slavery, for which they adopted the surname of their owners as a way of guaranteeing “property”.
His past marked by street violence led him to be imprisoned, serving more than five years in prison, where he met “The Nation of Islam”, an organization that brought together Afro-descendant leaders who were fighting for the end of racial segregation in the United States.
After his release from prison, he became the image of this organization and is dedicated to touring the entire North American territory where he spreads his message of justice and promotes the organization of the people of African descent to combat the violence of the racist North American State.
“No one can give you your freedom. No one can give you your equality or justice or anything else. If you are a man, take him”, was the message of this distinguished revolutionary who was assassinated on February 21, 1965 in New York City in the middle of a rally, at which he was shot 16 times in what is presumed to be an operation orchestrated by the CIA.
Today, 100 years after the birth of this fierce and courageous fighter for social justice and the end of capitalism, the peoples of the world raise the flags of Malcolm X, to fight imperialism until it wins with his burning verb.
“If you're not ready to die for it, remove the word freedom from your vocabulary”, Malcolm X.
