As a result of the accusation made by the Public Ministry, José Israel Díaz Canache, 47, was sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in prison, after admitting responsibility for the sexual abuse of four boys and a girl between 8 and 12 years of age, a fact detected on May 24, 2024 in the town of Boca de Sabana, Santa Inés de Cumaná parish, Sucre state.

That day, according to a press release from the Public Ministry, one of the victims confessed to her mother that her neighbor lifted her dress and performed oral sex on her when she was alone in her experience, which is why the woman went to regional police officials to file the respective complaint.

After several investigative steps and forensic expertise coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that the other children were sexually abused by the aggressor when they came to pick fruit in the yard of their home.

Subsequently, a commission from the said police force was transferred to the town, where the aggressor was arrested following an arrest warrant issued by the 1st Municipal Court of that state and placed under the order of the Public Ministry.

At the beginning of the trial, the Fifth Prosecutor's Office of that jurisdiction ratified the accusation against Díaz Canache for the commission of the crimes of sexual abuse with and without penetration.

After the evidence had been evacuated by the fiscal representative and after the admission of the fact, the Sucre Fifth Trial Court handed down the above-mentioned conviction against Díaz Canache, who is being held in the local regional police.
