Maracaibo will choose the Best Patacón 2026 at a popular gastronomic festival

The city of Maracaibo is preparing to celebrate this Saturday, May 16, the election of the Best Patacon of Maracaibo 2026, on a day that will bring together gastronomic tradition, entrepreneurship and cultural identity around one of the most representative dishes of Zulia.

The activity will include the participation of 10 local brands that will compete for recognition in an event organized by the Mayor's Office of Maracaibo, through the Municipal Tourism Fund (FOMUTUR) and the Municipal Directorate of Tourism.

The director of Economic Development, Juan Carlos Urdaneta, said that these types of initiatives contribute to the city's financial growth and provide greater visibility to new entrepreneurs in the gastronomic sector.

For her part, the president of FOMUTUR, Yesmin Romero, reported that citizens will be able to vote for their favorite proposal until May 15 using QR codes available at each of the participating establishments, a mechanism that seeks to ensure transparency in the process.

During the previous days, attendees and judges tasted different versions of the traditional Marabino dish, including green plantain and pinto plantain, in a competition that seeks to promote local cuisine and recognize the work of businessmen in the region.
