The Venezuelan María
Celis won the first medal for Venezuela in the
Youth Parapan American Games in Santiago Chile 2025, winning the bronze medal in table parathenis in the individual category TT7 class.
Celis climbed
to third place on the podium after recording one victory and two losses at the Luis Pávez
Sports Center in O'Higgins. In her debut, she faced Kristel
Morales from Costa Rica and fell 0-3 with partials of 4-11, 7-11 and
5-11, then she beat Cuba's Ivanna Rodríguez 11-5, 11-7 and 12-10.
In the match
against Brazil's Lethicia Lacerda, the Venezuelan yielded 0-3 with partials of 4-11, 3-11 and 2-11, according to a
press release from the Ministry of Sports.
Lacerda
won the gold medal in this category. While Morales hung up the silver
one.
Now the
Venezuelan is focusing on the next test she will face in Chile with her
partner Roberth Cardenas in the mixed doubles category.
