Maturín athletes stood out in the state of Monagas ahead of the National Student Sports Games

More than a thousand Monagas athletes saw action to define the delegation that will participate in the XIX National Student Sports Games 2025, to be held from August 1 to 17 in the states of Lara, Falcón and Yaracuy.

In the state phase in Monagas of the XIX National Student Sports Games 2025, students from the 13 municipalities of the eastern entity participated, especially the representatives of the Maturín municipality.

In karate do, Maturín won the highest honors in women's kumite through Fabiana Zaragoza (42 kg), Luigennys Márquez (47 kg), Susej Brito (52 kg), who dominated their respective categories.

In the men's category, Mathias García (40 kg), Saúl Gordones (45 kg), Jairo Palma (50 kg), Ángel Villalba (55 kg) and Santiago Romero (+55 kg) qualified, while in the kata category, the honors went to Fabiana Zaragoza and Ángel Villalba.

Volleyball was one of the events with the highest participation of municipalities with a total of 10. Maturín once again dominated by winning the women's final at the Libertador representations.

In addition, Maturín's men's team beat the Caripe municipality in the decisive match for qualifying for the national phase.

For its part, the national team of the municipality of Piar won the title in baseball 5 after beating Ezequiel Zamora in the final, and the bronze went to Punceres.

Meanwhile, in 5×5 basketball, the municipality of Maturín also won, Caripe was second and Punceres completed the podium.

Maturín also qualified his athletes in men's and women's table tennis. In taekwondo, he achieved six spots; in the same way, the municipalities of Libertador and Uracoa reached two each in this discipline.
