Mayor Meléndez oversees the adaptation of three new transitional camps

The mayor of the Bolivarian Libertador Municipality, Carmen Meléndez, announced the upcoming activation of three new temporary camps aimed at providing comprehensive protection to Caracas families affected by the earthquakes that occurred on June 24.

During an inspection tour to verify the progress of the works, the local president detailed the deployment being carried out in different areas of the capital. “We are adapting and equipping three new temporary camps to protect more families who were affected by the earthquakes of the past #24Jun,” said Meléndez.

The Mayor specified that two of these temporary shelters will be located in the El Recreo parish, while the third will operate in the 23 de Enero parish.

He explained that these shelters have been designed to guarantee the comprehensive well-being of citizens while rehabilitation work is being carried out in their homes. “These temporary camps will provide health care, as well as food, recreation, rest areas and everything necessary for the peace of mind of those who will be here temporarily,” he emphasized.

Meléndez recalled that these new facilities are in addition to the network of shelters already operating in the San Bernardino parish, including the Guayana Esequiba Cultural and Sports Center and the camp called “El Ávila”, as well as a new space that is currently being adapted.
He reiterated that these actions are subject to direct instructions from the National Executive. “At different points, we are comprehensively protecting those who need it most, following instructions from our president Delcy Rodríguez,” he concluded.
