The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, held a meeting with the spokespersons of the local communes, within the framework of Operation Caracas Smile, in the San Juan parish, installed in Plaza San Martín, on the avenue of the same name, next to the Concepción Palacios Maternity Hospital.

During his speech, Meléndez highlighted the importance of local government and self-governing chambers, as well as keeping the Concrete Agenda for Action (ACA) updated.

“If any objective of the ACA is met, it is crossed out and updated,” recommended Meléndez, who also urged the People's Power to monitor and control community projects prioritized in national consultations.

“It's important that projects are 100% implemented. Ensuring that the projects are carried out, that's where the credibility lies,” he stressed.

He took the opportunity to promote fiscal culture, in order to increase tax collection and advance projects for the people of Caracas.

The Mayor's Office of Caracas begins deploying the Comprehensive Care Brigades for Grandparents and Grandmothers in the 22 parishes, with the objective of providing direct care to almost 16,000 older adults.

“We are going to evaluate the parishes (...) which are the first to do the work,” emphasized Mayor Carmen Meléndez from San Juan Parish.

After this Saturday, 230 communes and communal circuits have been attended to, while the objective is to address the 299 communes of the capital city before the first anniversary of Operation Caracas Smile, to be held on June 9.

In addition, more than 1,800 community councils and 1,700,000 people have been attended to.

The second phase of Operation Caracas Smile, after addressing the 299 communes, will be the verification of the commitments made and projects planned for the long term.
