The Venezuelan people paid homage to the Cantor del Pueblo, Ali Primera, during the Los Claveles march that was held in Caracas to commemorate the 41st anniversary of his planting.

The march reached Plaza Bolívar, in Caracas, where it was received by Mayor Carmen Meléndez.

The mayor highlighted the cultural and humanistic heritage of Ali Primera, stating that her work is still present in the national identity.

“We remember our Ali in every corner of our Homeland and also outside our Homeland,” he said.

Meléndez explained that the carnation march is traditionally celebrated in Paraguaná, but that this year it was decided to repeat it in Caracas for those who cannot travel to the state of Falcón, while stressing that the initiative came about during a meeting of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), with the objective of keeping alive the homage to the Cantor del Pueblo throughout the country.

“So we, from here, from Plaza Bolívar, in honor of Ali, 41 years after his planting, here are his children, his family, his friends and those who adore him forever,” he said.

The attitude brought together artists, social movements, family members of the Cantor del Pueblo and followers of his work, who reiterated that his message is still valid in popular struggles and in the defense of Venezuelan identity.
