The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela denounced this Thursday a new false news published by the British media The Guardian, which is part of the media war launched to delegitimize the Executive, headed by the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez, after the military aggression perpetrated by the United States (USA) on January 3.

Without evidence and based on anonymous sources, the British media points out that the president in charge and her brother Jorge Rodríguez had agreed “in secret” with US authorities to leave President Nicolás Maduro, who was kidnapped together with the first lady Cilia Flores during the armed intervention.

The article, signed by Aram Roston and published on January 22, 2026, is entitled “Delcy Rodríguez assured US cooperation in the face of the capture of Maduro” and is based exclusively on the testimony of alleged “sources involved in the high levels of the discussions”, whose identities are not revealed.

The Guardian report attempts to build a narrative of conspiracy and betrayal at the highest level, describing alleged secret communications maintained since the fall of 2025, but the information stumbles upon its own contradictions and inconsistencies abound in the story.
