Meet the winners of the National Culture Award 2023-2024

The Ministry of Popular Power for
Culture (MPPC) announced the winners of the different
categories of the National Culture Awards 2023-2024, after several weeks
of reviewing the different materials sent by the participants of the contest.
In this edition, the award
aims to recognize the legacy and works of those who enrich the
cultural heritage of Venezuelans with more than 20 years of experience.
In this regard, the judging jury
decided to unanimously select the list containing the winners in
their respective specialties:
Popular Culture Mention: Rafael Enrique Salazar Romero, for his long and uninterrupted
career as a researcher, musicologist, composer and cultural promoter.
Literature Mention: Antonio Trujillo, for his wide and varied work that
stands out for its beauty and connection with the feelings and values of the
Venezuelan people, serving as a beacon for current and future generations.
Humanities Mention: Alí Enrique López Bohórquez, for his contribution and contribution to
more than 50 years of teaching, teaching, research and historical dissemination.
Music Mention: José Antonio “Toñito” Naranjo Zerpa, Master flutist, for his
long career as an interpreter and trainer of Venezuelan flutist generations and for his contribution to Venezuelan culture.
Mention of Traditional Knowledge: Giancarla Brancaleón, for her contribution and conservation in favor of the
tradition of the little horses of San Juan, in Ciudad Bolívar.
Circus Arts Mention: Darwin “Nicky” García, for his career and contribution to
Venezuelan culture, forming generations of circus artists for Venezuela and the world.
Julieta Hernández (post-mortem), for the immortal
planting of smiles and awareness through circus arts, poetry and love.
Handicraft Mention: Fidelina Manzo, master craftswoman, for her extraordinary
career in the artisanal world, contributes to the process of research,
healing, organization and training of new generations in our country.
Olga Reyes (post-mortem), for her great
career and representation of the indigenous women potters who spread their
knowledge and knowledge in the land of the Amazon.
Dance Mention: Flor Auristela Márquez Ugueto, for her recognized
national and international career as an interpreter, creator, teacher and manager of contemporary dance.
Fanny Montiel (post-mortem), for her
long career as an interpreter and teacher of classical dance.
Theater Mention: Guillermo José Diaz Mejías (Yuma), for his long career,
commitment and ethics in the theatrical profession.
Fine Arts Mention: Joel Pacheco, for his long career in which he has
demonstrated sustained and remarkable development in his artistic work.
Architecture Mention: Domingo Acosta González, the result of his career and vision
of sustainable and environmentally responsible architecture.
Photography Mention: Joel Alberto Ochoa, for his work of dissemination and
artistic expression in the photographic fact about the cultural and ethnic diversity of the Venezuelan
people, emphasizing the value of women and indigenous peoples.
Film Mention:
Jorge Jacko, for his long career in charge of
laboratory and post-production services for national cinema for more than six decades.
Nancy de Miranda (post-mortem), for her
invaluable service as a historian and popularizer of Venezuelan cinema.
Honorable Mention:
To Carlos Bolívar, Pedro “Guaraña” Riera
(post-mortem), Elpidio Bullón (post-mortem), Enrique Hernández D'Jesús, José
Marcial Ramos Guedes, Nohelí Pocaterra, Master Daniel Enrique Gil Rosado,
Cristóbal Jiménez, Henry Martínez, Hernán Marín, Blanca Sánchez, José Miguel
Méndez Crespo, Pedro Durán, Eleazar Molina Molina (Gonzalo Fragui), María Yolanda Medina, and Edgar Álvarez Estrada, Eduardo Martínez, José Manuel “Chachata” Guerra and Jesús Gerardo Contreras.
