During a massive popular mobilization commemorating January 23, 1958, the Secretary of Organization of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Carmen Meléndez, reaffirmed the unwavering unity of the revolutionary forces in the face of the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro Moros and the first female combatant Cilia Flores.
“They believed that taking President Nicolás Maduro would end the Revolution. What we have here is Revolution for a while! They thought that the people were going out to celebrate, but they found a mobilized town on Urdaneta Avenue asking for the return of Nicolás and Cilia,” said Meléndez.
Meléndez emphasized that, far from dismantling Chavism, international action has awakened a popular offensive in defense of sovereignty.
He also asserted that Venezuelans will not “have peace, tranquility” until President Nicolás Maduro and the first female fighter Cilia Flores are released.
On the other hand, Meléndez denounced the spread of fake news with the objective of attacking the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez and raising doubts within the revolutionary leadership. “They want to sow doubt in the people, but we have clear ideas. They won't divide us,” he said.
He stressed that these actions are part of a cognitive war that seeks to manipulate perceptions and weaken national unity. “The psychological war continues. We have to be alert,” he warned.
Meléndez reiterated the absolute support of the PSUV and the social movements for the president in charge “Delcy Rodríguez has the trust of the people”.
