The Bookstores of the South Foundation and the Cabinet of Culture of Mérida celebrated the “Afro-descendant African Culture” activity, dedicated to honoring the African legacy and transmitting its history to new generations.
The event was held within the framework of the World Day for African Culture and People of African Descent, which is celebrated every January 24, in order to highlight the impact of this heritage on intercultural dialogue, peace and sustainable development.
During the meeting, the inhabitants of the Kleber Ramírez Rojas Mountain Agroecological Tourist District, in the municipality of Campo Elías, enjoyed a diverse program that included traditional games and rag doll workshops made with recycling materials. In addition, reading sessions and dance performances were held, with the aim of highlighting the national identity.
Through the promotion of books, reading and dialogue, the Librería del Sur Foundation reinforces its commitment to the exchange of knowledge and the dissemination of the cultural expressions that define the Venezuelan people.
