The Council of Evangelical Methodist Churches of Latin America and the Caribbean (CIEMAL) condemned this Sunday any military intervention that does not respect the sovereignty of the Peoples and promotes ideologies of death, in a reaction to the illegal U.S. military aggression against Venezuela in the early morning of Saturday, January 3.
“We condemn any military intervention that does not respect the sovereignty of Peoples and that promotes ideologies of death, losing respect and the value of human life,” said the faith community, according to a Telesur review.
CIEMAL emphasized that it deplores every act of oppression, violence and every attack against peace. “As a community of faith, we deplore every act of oppression, violence and every attack on peace in our world. We cannot remain in the silence that hurts and undermines human dignity, respect for life and the justice to which we have been called and called as believers in Christ Jesus,” he said.
Noting that “from our faith, we are called to raise our prophetic voice, so that peace, justice and healing may reign on earth”, the Council said that “violence will never lead us on the right path and much less will it be an effective solution to any situation we face”.
Noting that as a Methodist people, we are called to be promoters and builders of peace with justice at all times, the Council said that “today more than ever, we are united in prayer for our brothers in the Venezuelan people.”
“In the same way, we ask all our faith communities that make up CIEMAL to remain united as light in the midst of suffering, attentive to the needs that the uncertainty of this action causes to our Venezuelan brothers and to any other people that receive these attacks of violence,” the organization said.
