Mexican Navy seizes 1.96 tons of cocaine hydrochloride off Pacific coast

The Mexican Navy Secretariat (SEMAR) seized 1,969 kilograms of suspected cocaine hydrochloride off the coast of Michoacán in the west of the Azteca country.

The operation took place at two events in which six people involved were arrested, the entity said Wednesday.

In a statement, SEMAR explained that in the first operation, packages in the form of bricks of drugs were seized, which yielded an approximate weight of 424.62 kilograms of suspected cocaine hydrochloride that were inside a smaller vessel.

While in the second event, naval security found approximately 50 nautical miles (92.6 kilometers) southwest of the port of Lázaro Cárdenas (Michoacán), floating black packages weighing approximately 1,545.24 kilograms of suspected cocaine hydrochloride.

According to information provided by the Xinhua news agency, SEMAR explained that the arrested persons were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General of the Republic for the integration of the corresponding research kits.
