The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, echoed reports from international observers who considered that the electoral process that ended with the announcement by the National Electoral Council of Ecuador of the victory of the current president and candidate for re-election, Daniel Noboa, was “not fair”.

Sheinbaum referred to the demonstration of the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, who stated through social networks that he cannot recognize the Ecuadorian electoral process based on the argument that: “There are no free elections under a state of siege.”

The president pointed out the fact that during the elections, in seven provinces, a state of emergency was declared and the army led the election day, the tables during the elections, and the counting of votes.

In addition to considering Noboa's triumph as “very doubtful”, the Mexican president also pointed to the Ecuadorian-American businessman as “responsible for the invasion of the Mexican Embassy, our sovereignty” and was forceful in stating that “relations will not resume.”
