The elected president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, during a press conference she gave this Monday, August 12, responded to the opposition member María Corina Machado, who recognized the victory of Edmundo González in the elections of July 28, is not up to her, because “that's why there are international organizations,” reported the SWI portal.
” It's not up to me, that's why there are international organizations”, thus responding to Machado's request to recognize Edmundo González's victory.
He added that Machado's request was the result of a “trap” by journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva, a critic of Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Sheinbaum emphasized that “we respect everyone, above all we respect the right of Venezuelans to decide who governs them and, if there are any problems, that's why there are international institutions,” insisted the elected president of Mexico, who will take office on October 1.
Regarding the elections in Venezuela, Sheinbaum recently expressed his rejection of any intention of interventionism by other governments or international organizations such as the Organization of American States (OAS), considering that this violates the right of peoples to their self-determination.
“For years, particularly with Cuba at the time, it has played more of an interventionist role than of coordination with the countries of Latin America, the Caribbean and the rest of the continent,” he said.
