Mexico at the UN: The United States denies Latin America's independent history

The permanent representative of Mexico to the United Nations (UN), Héctor Vasconcelos, stated that those who justify acts of the United States (USA) “deny” the independent history of Latin America.

Likewise, the diplomat of the government of the government of Claudia Sheinbaum, stressed that “it is up to sovereign peoples” to decide on the destiny of their countries, in a new condemnation of the US aggression against Venezuela.

Vasconcelos stressed that “those who justify these acts deny the independent history of Latin America and the Caribbean.”

In this regard, he reiterated the position of the Mexican Government in favor of dialogue and negotiation as “the only legitimate and effective ways to resolve existing differences.”

He also offered Mexico's support for “any effort to facilitate dialogue, mediation or accompaniment that promotes peace in the region.”

“We cannot ignore the fact that this session of the Council has been held until today, when what we have before us is a serious situation that puts international peace and security at risk,” added the permanent representative of Mexico.
