This Sunday, the Foreign Minister of Mexico, Alicia Bárcena, in statements to the press, reported that she will go to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Monday to denounce the violation of national sovereignty perpetrated by the government of Ecuador after the violent break-in at the Embassy in Quito to kidnap former Ecuadorian Vice President Jorge Glas, who had received political asylum.

Bárcena pointed out that the violent eruption ordered by President Daniel Noboa is an unprecedented event and must be condemned by the international community. “Not even the dictator (Augusto) Pinochet (1973-1990) had dared to enter the Embassy of Mexico in Chile.”

“They entered violently and without authorization, physically assaulting, and for this reason and on instructions from President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, we decided to break relations with the government of Ecuador and we strongly condemn it,” said the foreign minister.
