Mía Garcés became the first Creole to climb the podium in four editions of South Americans

Mia Garcés won two gold and one silver medals in artistic gymnastics equipment at the IV South American Youth Games Panama 2026.

With these medals, Garcés has three gold medals and one silver medal to her credit, and she became the first Venezuelan to climb to the top of the podium in all four editions of this sporting event.

The Venezuelan dominated the asymmetric bars with a record of 12,000 points, relegating the Uruguayan Camila Buck, who added 11,750, to second place. The bronze medal went to Brazil's Sophia Carvalho.

The second gold medal of the day for Garcés came on the balance beam, where he scored 13,250. The silver medal went to Brazil's Ana Batista with 12,800 points and Panama's Aylin Goon completed the podium with 11,800.

The medal harvest continued with silver in the floor exercises, where Garcés recorded 12,500 points. The gold went to Uruguayan Isabela Amarenco with 12,525, while Argentina's Sofía Chimenti won bronze.

After gymnastics, Venezuela ranked second in the medal table of the discipline with 3 gold, 2 silver for a total of 5, surpassed by Argentina with 4 gold medals, 1 silver and an equal number of bronzes. He completed the Colombia table with 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
