The Government of Argentina, led by the far-right Javier Milei, formally began the privatization process of Corredores Viales S.A., the state company responsible for managing almost 6,000 kilometers of highways and highways in 13 provinces of the country, on Monday, September 1.

The decision, published in the Official Gazette through Resolution 1284/2025 of the Ministry of Economy, adds to the scrapping of the State that the Government justifies as a policy of balancing the fiscal deficit. The measure is part of the Basic Law, which enables the privatization of this and seven other public companies.

Almost seven months after the privatization decree was approved, the Government set a deadline of twelve months to transfer route management to private operators. After this concession, the state company will be dissolved and liquidated.

The privatization of Corredores Viales follows other similar moves by the Milei Government, including the privatization of the steel company Impsa, as well as the start of processes for Argentine Water and Sanitation (Aysa), Energía Argentina (Enarsa) and Intercargo.

Since taking office in December 2023, the Argentine president has dismantled the public sector through liquidations, closures, sales, mergers and restructurings of state companies.
