MINCYT launched the 2026 Science and Technology Vacation Plan for more than 6,000 children and young people

In order to strengthen meaningful learning and the development of skills in research and innovation, the Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology (MINCYT) launched the Science and Technology Vacation Plan 2026, a training initiative aimed at 6,720 children and young people between 7 and 17 years of age throughout the country.

From the spaces of the Institute for Advanced Studies Foundation (IDEA), located in the state of Miranda, the Minister of Science and Technology, Yván Gil Pinto, began the program being developed by the Bolivarian Government “to bring science and technology closer to our children, to our girls, to our adolescents, throughout the national territory”.

The head of the scientific portfolio stated that “this is a program, which for four weeks, during the vacation period, at all the regional headquarters of the Fundacites, we will be serving almost 7 thousand children this season, which is also a program that takes place all year round in all the classrooms of our education system”.

The Minister added that the conference addresses “topics of robotics, computer science, biology, agriculture, environment, all areas of science and technology”.

The program, according to a press release, is organized by specific groups according to the age range: weeks one and three are dedicated to the care of girls and boys from 7 to 12 years old, while weeks two and four are aimed at young people from 13 to 17 years old. With an average of 70 participants per week, the initiative aims to achieve a goal of 280 attended by each entity in the country.

In this regard, through practical activities, recreational dynamics and scientific routes designed to stimulate creativity, problem solving and innovation in strategic areas such as astronomy, physics, mathematics, chemistry, educational robotics and computer science, will be developed, promoting scientific culture and the awakening of early vocations in science and engineering.

The methodology contemplates the activation of training spaces equipped in each state, including technical schools, science rooms, robotics laboratories and headquarters of the Foundation for the Development of Science and Technology (FUNDACITE), which will allow for a weekly rotation and guarantee effective territorial coverage.
