MINCYT strengthens the protection of marine ecosystems in Sucre state

The Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology (MinCyT) promoted strategic actions in the state of Sucre, where a multidisciplinary team worked hard to contain the expansion of the invasive coral Unomia stolonifera. These tasks were part of the institutional commitment to environmental protection and the preservation of the country's natural spaces.

In this regard, the Minister for Science and Technology, Yván Gil, highlighted the fundamental role of national talent in the field, noting that “our scientists and scientists are at the service of protecting Venezuela's marine ecosystems.” This support promoted direct technical initiatives in affected coastal areas to mitigate ecological impacts.

As part of the projects of great ecosocialist value, the pilot coral farm in Mochima Bay, led by Dr. Sinatra Salazar of the Oceanographic Institute of Venezuela, stood out. This work not only cultivated native species for environmental restoration, but also actively linked surrounding communities in generating actions for the preservation of life.
