MINEC and Guardia Ambiental protect sea turtle spawning area in Cata Bay

Officials from the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (MINEC), together with members of the Environmental Guard, approached the coastal strip of Cata Beach, in the state of Aragua, with the purpose of securing and protecting the area where the spawning of a sea turtle was recorded.

The procedure was executed after timely notice from service providers in the area, who detected the presence of the reptile during the early hours of the morning and informed the environmental authorities to activate the corresponding protection protocol.

Upon arriving at the site, the joint commission, supported by officials from the Ocumare mayor's office on the Gold Coast of Aragua, proceeded to delimit the nest area to avoid alterations that could jeopardize the preservation of the eggs.

According to technical data from wildlife specialists, the event is part of the regular nesting period for sea turtles off the Venezuelan coast, which runs from March to October.
