The Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (MINEC) remains alert and monitoring the hydrocarbon spill from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, which has impacted sectors of the Gulf of Paria and coastal areas of eastern Venezuela.
The information was released by the Minister of People's Power for Ecosocialism, Alfred Ñáñez, through a post on his Telegram channel, in which he detailed that the spill caused confirmed damage to parts of the Sucre state and areas under monitoring in Delta Amacuro, according to the preliminary technical report prepared by our institutional teams.
“The president in charge Delcy Rodríguez has instructed the immediate deployment of a multidisciplinary technical team composed of environmental specialists, biologists and risk monitoring and assessment personnel, who will be transferred to the area for on-site verification, in-depth analysis and activation of the mitigation actions necessary to protect our marine-coastal ecosystems, mangroves and fishing communities,” said Ñáñez.
He also stated that they will act with the technical rigor required by this contingency and with absolute responsibility in the defense of our ecological sovereignty. “The protection of our natural spaces requires vigilance, timely response and full clarity about the origin of this event,” he emphasized.
