After a successful technical intervention led
by the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (MINEC), the “Carlos Sublett”
Basic School located in the state of Barinas will restart its
academic activities on April 15, after addressing and eradicating sources of pollution reported in the immediate vicinity of the campus.
The technical action was carried out on
Rondón Avenue and Apure Street, in the Barinas parish, following alerts received through the 0800-Ambiente channel.
The institution's board, headed by
Professor Violeta Castillo, had reported the presence of fetid odors from raising
porcine animals in an adjacent house, a
situation that led to the temporary suspension of classes due to health risks.
Under the guidelines of César Solís, General Director of Monitoring and Control of Environmental Impacts and Yaraby Fernández, director of UTEC-Barinas, a multidisciplinary team inspected building #14 -57. During the technical eye inspection procedure, seven pigs of various ages were found distributed in four compartments. Sanitary deficiencies were also found due to the existence of a septic tank for liquid effluents that had not yet been completed, causing the release of annoying gases. All this, in an area not larger than 10 square meters.
Faced with the situation, a commitment was made to completely relocate this infrastructure, for which a peremptory period of forty-eight (48) hours was established for the transfer of the animals to a suitable area outside the school and residential perimeter.
This intervention guarantees the right of
boys and girls to a healthy environment and to the continuity of their academic training.
