MINEC oversees the rescue of cardon turtle eggs off the coast of Sucre

A multidisciplinary commission rescued 68 cardon turtle eggs (Dermochelys coriacea) at Copacabana Beach, located in the Bermúdez municipality of Sucre state, a procedure transferred to the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (MINEC).

According to the MINEC report, the nests were immediately recovered with the objective of preventing looting by natural predators or human intervention. Specialists in biological diversity, ecosocialist education and territorial management of the Sucrense entity participated in the operation.

The deployment was supported by the Bermudez Stranding Group, Civil Protection officers and the Environmental Division of the Bolivarian National Police. The officials worked in an articulated manner to ensure the safe handling of the specimens during their transfer to Playa Grande.
