Minister Cardillo welcomed medalist Mayerlyn Barreto

Venezuelan judoka Mayerlyn Barreto returned to the country after winning a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2025 Deaf Olympic Games, once again consolidating herself as one of the most outstanding athletes in this discipline.

The minister of popular power for sports, Franklin Cardillo, received her in a pleasant meeting to recognize her trajectory, perseverance and example for the new generations of Venezuelan judokas. “The return of Mayerlyn Barreto to the country fills us with deep national pride,” she said in a press release from the ministry.

In addition, the sports minister praised Barreto's competitive mettle, pointing out that judoka won its first fight with impeccable technical execution, and courageously faced a second, very close fight.
