The Minister of Popular Power for Health, Carlos Alvarado, led the start of Vaccination Week in the La Quebradita de San Martín community module and stated that the country guarantees a free and permanent scheme throughout the territory, which he described as a commitment that must be sustained and expanded.
During the activity, he recalled that this regional day has been taking place since 2002 under the coordination of the Pan American Health Organization and explained that its purpose is to increase access to vaccines as a preventive measure against diseases present in member countries.
Alvarado pointed out that the national goal is to achieve 95% coverage and said that the call is addressed to all families responsible for boys and girls to complete the corresponding schemes, so he insisted on reviewing the vaccination card and going to the authorized points.
He indicated that 65 posts were activated in Caracas this Sunday and added that work will continue during the week in the usual health centers, so that the population can get closer to receiving the available doses.
He specified that the program protects against 11 diseases and invited minors to be taken to popular clinics to receive the necessary information and comply with established reinforcements.
The Deputy Minister of Integral Health, Rosalbina Hurtado, accompanied the deployment and verified the functioning of the team of vaccinators, who advised the representatives on the protocol after the application of the doses.
The Ministry of People's Power for Health will reinforce its presence in the territory this week as part of the mobilization promoted by PAHO to consolidate coverage objectives in the region.
