In order to evaluate and carry out a technical inspection following the earthquakes that occurred in the country, the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Raúl Cazal, accompanied the director of the Regional Cabinet, Edgar Urbina, toured various cultural and historical spaces in the state of La Guaira.

The cultural authorities verified that the El Vigía Fort, located in the upper part of the Historic Quarter of La Guaira, is in good general condition; they also inspected the most recent interventions in its architecture.

In the same way, they visited the Castillete de Armando Reverón, in Macuto, where they observed accumulated damage due to the passage of time and earthquakes.

In this regard, Minister Cazal reaffirmed the joint work carried out by the Culture Department, with Governor José Alejandro Terán to promote the recovery of the place.

They also visited the Juan Manuel Castellanos School of Music, which is not in a position to continue with musical instruction, since a double earthquake left several instruments trapped upstairs, although the place recorded no human losses.

The tour ended at the José María Vargas Sports Center, which currently functions as a collection and coordination center for the regional operation, where part of the aid for temporary camps is managed.

During the evaluation, working groups from the Cultural Heritage Institute (IPC) and the Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Habitability, Housing and Infrastructure, led by engineer Francisco Garcés, participated.
