Minister Cazal inspected facilities and cultural collection of La Gran Pulpería del Libro Venezolano

The Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Raúl Cazal, took a tour of the Gran Pulpería del Libro Venezolano, located in Sabana Grande, Caracas, to verify the condition of its structures and the more than three million copies kept in the library.
The inspection found that the structure of the building was not damaged. However, several of its shelves collapsed on one side, until they hit a pillar where the section dedicated to Simon Bolivar is located.
The owner of the emblematic bookstore, Rómulo Castellanos, son of historian and writer Rafael Ramón Castellanos, stressed during the visit that “Bolívar endured!”
In this regard, Minister Cazal expressed to Castellanos the support of his office so that La Gran Pulpería and the book sector remain standing after the attacks that the Venezuelan people have suffered.
Also present at the meeting was the publisher and university professor, Carlos Ortiz, who since day one has accompanied Castellanos in the rehabilitation of this bookstore so dear to the people of Caracas.
It was also found that very few books were affected during the earthquakes. Ortiz added that the earthquakes also unearthed literary jewels that were underwritten. One of those copies recovered from the hands of Castellanos was “Complete Works” by Teresa de la Parra, published by Editorial Arte in 1965 on fine bible paper.
