The sector vice-president of Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, reported this Tuesday, November 18, that the incidence of dengue fever in the Venezuelan population has decreased by 29% compared to 2024.
He specified that this decrease is due to the joint work with the Ministry of People's Power for Health and the Ministry of People's Power of Communes, Social Movements and Urban Agriculture, in which more than 71,000 families were treated to prevent infections.
He stressed that this initiative against dengue was a national scientific research project, born at a university in the country, which was applied in 17 states of Venezuela.
The information was provided during the award ceremony of the XX “Dr. Humberto Fernández- Mora” National Prizes for Science, Technology and Innovation 2025, at the Teresa Carreño Theater, led by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
“We provide technological solutions designed for the territory, felt in our people because it is the only way to build sovereignty and independence for peace, for health, for the well-being of Venezuelan women and Venezuelans,” he said.
On the other hand, he specified that the National Experimental University of Health Sciences Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán has more than a thousand students and that 52% of enrolled students are enrolled in new academic training offers.
He stressed that the objective of these careers is to work on productive and national development, as well as to contribute to the security of the nation.
