The president of Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), Héctor Obregón, specified that the state company plans to produce around 1,300,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) in 2025 and export natural gas by 2027.
The announcement was made during his presentation at the annual forum of the Venezuelan Oil Chamber (CPV), where he noted that crude oil production in the country will close in 2024 at one million barrels per day, while that of natural gas will end at 1,755 million cubic feet per day, highlights the Petroguia portal.
Regarding the processing of crude oil and fuel production, Obregón said that refineries in the country are producing around 108,000 barrels a day of gasoline and 45,000 barrels a day of diesel.
“A goal of PDVSA is to produce all the fuel necessary to leverage economic growth and we are directing the right fuel to each sector,” he said.
On natural gas, Obregón highlighted that by 2030 they expect to reach 3,822 million cubic feet per day.
“In 2027, we will be able to export the first molecule of natural gas,” he said and relied on the sales projection of the three offshore fields in the north of Sucre state, from where it is expected to start selling to Trinidad and Tobago no less than 80 million cubic feet a day.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Gas, Luis González, said that they are doing the exploration and certification of gaseous hydrocarbon reserves not associated with oil.
“The potential for gas reserves could bring us to 440 trillion cubic feet and make Venezuela the fifth country with the most non-associated natural gas reserves, second only to Iran, Russia, Qatar and Turkmenistan,” he said.
A said that currently, Venezuela is “in the ninth position with 139 trillion cubic feet.”
