Minister Héctor Silva led a meeting with the community of Belén in El Callao

The assembly aimed to articulate the reorganization of the sector and promote participation in the next Popular Consultation on October 18, which will reinforce the democratic commitment of the Venezuelan people to build a sustainable future and to guarantee the country's comprehensive development.

The community presented its proposals, requirements and organizational proposals, constituting a space for democratic and participatory debate, focused on dignifying gold work and moving towards a model of responsible exploitation with the environment.

In his speech, Minister Silva stressed that the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez has instructed the deployment across the territories to listen to the sector, support production and provide technical support and permanent advice in the consultation process.

He also ratified the commitment to consolidate the Commune of Belén, which currently includes more than 1,180 families, stressing that the town was the cradle of the reforestation program: “Here in Belén, the reforestation plan was born, which today is replicated throughout the state; what began with a single hectare, now totals 7,000 at the regional level. This has been possible thanks to the community itself.”

In this regard, community spokeswoman Emirna Marcano thanked the mining authorities for their commitment, attention and interest in the development of this community. Referring to Minister Silva, Marcano added that, “from his initial visit he spoke to us about his vision and common determination, and today we see the fruits.”
