The Minister of Productive Agriculture and Lands, Julio León Heredia, confirmed that the second phase of the elections of the spokespersons of the Peasant Councils is taking place normally in the country's municipalities.
“Today is an act to continue strengthening the organization of People's Power, strengthening the peasant organization, where the debate has taken place and the support and restriction of our president Nicolás Maduro and our first female combatant who have been victims of this criminal action of kidnapping violating all international law violating human rights by the empire,” he said.
The minister stressed that this day is part of the Constituent Congress of People's Power, from which the National Peasant Union was born after more than 30,000 assemblies held in 2025. He recalled that in the elections of September 6, 15,543 Peasant Councils were constituted, with 46,629 main and alternate spokespersons.
“Today, the municipal spokespersons are elected, who will continue next week with the state spokespersons and will culminate on January 25 with the national spokesperson,” he explained.
León Heredia indicated that the process reflects the support of the peasant movement for President Nicolás Maduro and the deputy Cilia Flores.
“Today, the municipal spokespersons are elected, which will continue next week with the state ones and will culminate on January 25 with the national spokesperson,” he explained.
The minister stressed that the peasant sector maintains a central role in food production, after closing 2025 with 96% of the national supply, and also in the defense of the territory, thanks to its knowledge of it.
He also reported that rural communities are making progress in the productive characterization of their lands and in the development of agricultural plans for the short, medium and long term. He added that this year the National School of Productive Knowledge will be inaugurated in Maracay, aimed at strengthening native agricultural practices and the recovery of native seeds.
“The American government has made a serious mistake. Our people combine indignation and conscience to continue to advance the organization, which is the key to solving the country's needs,” he said.
León Heredia reiterated that the peasant movement will raise its voice at a march next Friday in defense of the constitutional president Nicolás Maduro and the deputy Cilia Flores, demanding respect for international law.
