Minister Jiménez: The National Congress of Pediatrics will have more than three thousand specialists

The sector vice-president for Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, inaugurated this Tuesday, January 20, the second National Congress of Pediatrics 2026, in which more than three thousand specialists will participate.

The event, which will take place until this Thursday, January 22 in the spaces of the Teresa Carreño Theater, in Caracas and opens its doors from 9:00am to 5:00pm, seeks to raise the standards of medical care for every child and adolescent in the country.

In this regard, attendees will be able to hear from 90 speakers who will address more than 30 pediatric specialties and subspecialties.

“Our doctors and doctors will be updated on concepts and experiences, technological advances in the area of children's health with seven interactive classrooms and spaces with timely and quality information,” Jiménez said in his account on the social network Telegram.

In addition, concepts such as epigenetics, premature neonatal care, nutrition and microbiota, mental health, the promotion of healthy habits and psychoemotional support for minors will be discussed, after the attack by the United States military on January 3.

Jiménez said that the Sectorial Vice Presidency of Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health is building the foundations of a new and strengthened National Public Health System. This is through strategic planning framed in the 7 Transformations.

Three spaces at Teresa Carreño were arranged to hold the presentations: the José Félix Ribas Room, the protocol plate and the central free area as part of the scientific stand and interactive presentations.

Among the topics to be presented in the morning is the early diagnosis of childhood cancer and the global initiative, while in the afternoon there will be A Shield of Love: Protecting Our Children from Public Health.

Another 11 will be held on the protocol plate; among them, we will talk about breastfeeding in adolescent mothers and the prevention of domestic violence with a focus on children and young people.

In addition, 12 more will be held in the central free area, one of them focusing on childhood asthma in the national territory.
