The People's Power Minister for Electric Energy, Jorge Márquez, accompanied by the president of the National Electric Corporation (CORPOELEC), José Luis Betancourt, inspected the progress of the solar panel farm located in El Vigía, Mérida state, as part of actions aimed at strengthening the use of renewable energy in Venezuela.
The Ministry of Popular Power for Electric Energy (MPPEE), in its account on the social network Instagram, highlighted that this energy node will generate 50 megawatts for the electricity system of the Andean region, which represents a significant step in the use of solar energy in the country.
In June 2024, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, instructed the installation of the first solar energy farm, as part of a large scale strategy aimed at boosting the development of photovoltaic energy.
“I have decided to install in El Vigía the first farm that produces solar energy for 50 megawatts,” announced the Head of State during the National Council for Productive Economy: Los Andes Region.
The Bolivarian Government consolidates the use of alternative energies, with different experiences such as the “Luz del Alba” Photovoltaic Farm, located in the Bubuquí Housing Complex, in the state of Mérida, inaugurated in January 2025, to strengthen the quality of public services.
