The People's Power Minister for Electric Energy, Jorge Márquez, announced Saturday, November 16, that electricity service in the state of Nueva Esparta will be progressively normalized starting tonight.
At a press conference from the administrative headquarters of the National Electricity Corporation (CORPOELEC), in the aforementioned entity, the also Sectorial Vice President of Public Works and Services, assured that in the next few hours the shipment of gas to the generating plants will be restored, which will make it possible to reactivate the production of electricity necessary to meet the population's demand.
“It is essential to restore the electricity service required by the state. We are already taking action and preparing the equipment for when the pumping of the gas supply, which is our primary source of energy, begins,” he said in a note published on the website of the Ministry of People's Power for Electric Energy.
He stressed that a supply of diesel will be implemented for plants in the commercial and industrial area of the region, with the objective of ensuring that businesses and industries can supply themselves with this fuel and thus continue their operations. “We are committed to moving forward with the commercial life that this island requires,” he added.
He also mentioned that the Bolivarian Government is reviewing alternative energy generation projects, in order to guarantee the electrical independence of the island region in the future. This initiative seeks to diversify energy sources and reduce dependence on gas and diesel.
On the other hand, he recalled that the National Electric System (SEN) has been the victim of terrorist acts on many occasions. “This terrorist attack has a name and surname, bears the seal and label of María Corina Machado and her banditas, her little commandos,” he said.
Márquez, detailed the explosion that occurred last Sunday at the MUSCAR gas plant, located in the state of Monagas, was the result of a terrorist attack.
“As Minister of Electric Energy, I have suffered these attacks from these terrorists, attacking our National Electricity System on repeated occasions. Before the elections of July 28, I reported that more than one of them tried to tear down towers in Zulia, in Táchira, in Monagas, in Anzoátegui, and thanks to the CORPOELEC workforce, we were able to move forward,” he said.
He stressed that while extreme right wing groups harm the country, the People have a President who protects them.
“We can see how our president Nicolás Maduro is seeking to bring well-being to the People, to the country, to our Homeland and how a group of people, led by this lady María Corina Machado, manage to create unrest and anxiety,” he emphasized.
