The Sectorial Vice President of Communication
and Culture, Freddy Ñáñez, called for strengthening social
intelligence as a defense against cognitive warfare, during his analysis on the second day of
the International “Patria” Colloquium dedicated to the 20th anniversary
of Telesur, which is being held in Havana, Cuba.
“The brain says what I need to discard,
so it has the capacity to silence everything that can be a
threat of distortion within its own parameters, and finally the brain asks
itself the question of what information can be useful for the future,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of how to
decipher cognitive biases through codes, which are nothing more
than thoughts, sensations, perceptions captured from the human brain.
In addition, he highlighted the origin of how communication
technologies operate, under a surveillance system using the
type of programming processed by human beings.
“We currently buy it and
pay more money, these (technological) devices have greater memory,
capacity, fidelity in image and sound, they are the ones who spy on us and use our
data,” he said.
In this regard, he expressed the need to guarantee good mental health in the population in the face of a digital tool that has been responsible for monitoring each of the people, just as it is extremely dangerous, “these technologies have the capacity to change the parameters of our own brains,” he said.
