The Sectorial Vice President of Communication
and Culture, Freddy Ñáñez, reaffirmed this Friday that Venezuela has defended itself
for 25 years from psychological warfare attacks, warning that
social networks have become a space where algorithms condition the
consumption of information and can favor the isolation of the population.
Also, during his speech at the New Digital Era, Fake News and Cognitive War
forum, held at the
Teresa Carreño Theater, he specified that the capitalist system has designed new
technologies capable of generating immediate changes in social behaviors, a Venezuelan Television review.
“This cybercapitalism is turning human
data into economic and political capital (...) Capitalism has
developed mechanisms to know populations in depth, through
statistics and precise measurements, in order to dominate them. In the nascent 21st
century, technologies are being built that surprise us and that are designed
directly for the changes that are taking place now,” he said.
He also indicated that digital capitalism
has developed technologies capable of influencing social behaviors
through massive data collection. In this context, he mentioned Big
Data as an infrastructure designed to monitor, store and predict personal
information for economic and political purposes.
He argued that the expansion of these
platforms constitutes “a reengineering of humanity” and that all
users, consciously or not, contribute data to the digital economic model.
“This cybercapitalism converts information into economic and
political capital,” he said.
For this reason, he called for strengthening critical
awareness in the face of these dynamics and recalled that President Nicolás
Maduro has promoted the communication method “Streets, Networks, Media, Walls and
Radio Bemba” as a tool to face this type of aggression.
He also emphasized the importance of the Venezuelan population continuing
to be in permanent formation to build
new theories of communication, while stressing that
new tools and digital platforms must be created for liberation.
