The state of Apure ranked first nationally in the first vaccination cycle against foot-and-mouth disease 2026, said the Minister of People's Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Vladímir Padrino López.

He highlighted the strategic role of this land entity in the national livestock sector, especially given one of the protocols that the country follows to obtain international certification as a territory free of this disease.

Venezuela has established itself as a center of gravity for livestock activity and Apure is one of its main pillars, not only because of the diversity of its herd, but also because of the commitment demonstrated during this health day,” he said.

He specified that the results in the state of Apurea were achieved thanks to the efforts of the State, communes, peasants, institutions, peace quadrants, livestock associations, Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and universities, as well as other collaborators.

Padrino López urged joint efforts to characterize the national herd and indicated that the second vaccination cycle against foot-and-mouth disease is scheduled to begin in November.
