The Minister of Labor, Ivonne Núñez, and the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Danilo Palacios, have resigned after the negative result for President Daniel Noboa in the referendum and popular consultation on Sunday.
Núñez announced the end of his term of office with a message on the social network X, in which he mentioned the rules promoted during his administration in terms of equal pay, prevention of harassment and labor legislation.
Palacios expressed his gratitude to the president for the opportunity to lead the Ministry of Agriculture and recognized the support of his teams and the productive sectors.
The Ecuadorian press reported that the rest of the cabinet would also resign, although the Secretariat of Communication has not officially confirmed this version.
According to what was published on the Telesur website, both ministers took office in November 2023, when Noboa took office to complete Guillermo Lasso's term of office, and were confirmed in May 2024, at the beginning of the four-year term.
