Ministry for Culture to promote national plan to strengthen Venezuelan identity and heritage

The Ministry of Popular Power for Culture will launch a national plan together with the History, Memory and Heritage Network and the Insurgent History Movement, with the purpose of strengthening national identity, protecting cultural heritage and promoting Venezuelan values in communities and educational spaces.

The Minister of Culture, Alejandro López, reported that, on instructions from the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, working groups will begin to define the lines of action and the territorial deployment of this initiative, which will articulate institutions and organizations linked to the preservation of historical memory.

“Through the Network, it has been possible to weave a very diverse living organism of work and struggle (...) History is a fundamental tool for the conscience, liberation and union of peoples,” said López, who also highlighted the figure of Simon Bolivar as the axis of Venezuelan identity and the incorporation of youth into sustainable cultural projects.

During the day, historian Pedro Calzadilla highlighted the participation of institutions such as the General Archive of the Nation, the National Library, the National History Center, the Simon Bolivar Study Center and the Historical Archive of the Miraflores Palace, while stressing the importance of preserving national memory.

For her part, historian Dulce Marrufo pointed out that “unity is the central point for sustaining the Venezuelan nation” and highlighted the role of education and culture in the formation of children and young people with a sense of belonging, as part of a policy aimed at consolidating the collective imaginary from communities and territories.
